REEPHAM LIONS CLUB

New President for Reepham Lions

Reepham Lions have inaugurated a new President who will lead the Club for the next twelve months.  Ann Graham has been the Vice-President of the Club and succeeds Barry Howes as President.  Barry handed over the official chain of office to Ann at Reepham Lions’ July meeting.

Barry has been Reepham Lions’ President since January 2020 and has led the club to deliver successful community projects such as the Christmas Tree Festival and Norfolk Day as well as fundraising campaigns including the Food Festival tombola and last year’s grand raffle.

Club members thanked Barry for providing strong, friendly leadership and steering the club through the COVID pandemic when fundraising and community projects had been particularly difficult.

“It’s been a challenging couple of years, but I’m proud of our achievements throughout the pandemic” he said.  “Many clubs and societies struggled to retain members, but we have held fast, using online meetings and quizzes when we couldn’t meet face-to-face to retain our sense of purpose and fun, and getting out there to raise money as soon as we could.”

Ann is looking forward to her year as President.  “Barry will be a hard act to follow” she said.  “Reepham Lions Club is back to a full programme of fundraising this year, so I’m determined that we will continue to go from strength to strength.  We’ll also be looking for local projects and good causes to fund and I’m hoping that we can continue to grow our membership.  It’s going to be a busy year”.

Reepham Lions meet on the first Thursday of the month, 7.00 for 7.30 pm at St Michael’s Church Hall, Reepham. Pop us an email or send a message via this website (https://www.reephamlions.org.uk/join-us/) if you’d like to come along and we’ll confirm the details.
