REEPHAM LIONS SUPPORT AYLSHAM COMMUNITY GYM

Over the past 18 months, Aylsham Community Gym (ACG) www.aylshamcommunitygym.co.uk has moved from the Band Hall across the road into the County Building, next to the Fire Station. It prides itself in being The Friendly Gym, where members of the local community aged from 13 upwards are able to improve/maintain their fitness as well as meet others in a positive environment.

ACG boasts a team of three fully qualified instructors as well as a very wide range of equipment including cross trainers, treadmills and exercise bikes.

Reepham Lions has recently been able to extend the provision of equipment by donating monies to purchase resistance bands which are now being used by members in various classes as well as individually.

The past 18 months have been challenging for us all, both mentally and physically, and ACG gives us all the opportunity to get back into the routine of continuing to maintain our levels of fitness or improve them. The instructors are there to help and will devise bespoke training plans, support local GP surgeries with exercise referral schemes and support specialist needs such as physiotherapy.

I would like to thank you all for the donations of spectacles/hearing aids you have made – our latest batch has now been sorted and despatched to Chichester Lions Club.

With Clubs and charities starting to open up again, funds may be limited. If you know of any local organisations which would benefit from funding from Reepham Lions, please contact Liz Howes on liz.howes2011@gmail.com.

To boost our depleted funds, the Club is holding a Summer Raffle and we hope that you’ll feel able to purchase a ticket. No doubt you’ll come across one of us selling tickets before the draw which is to be held at the Kings Arms (www.kingsarmsreepham.com) on 22 August 2021 as part of the Reepham Food Festival.

Reepham Lions continues to work with the local community and I am delighted to tell you that we shall be resuming our monthly meetings on a face to face basis in August. (We’ve been doing Zoom meetings and quizzes during lockdown). The Club meetings take place on the first Thursday of the month, which means 5 August, in St Michael’s Church Hall. Members start to arrive just after 7 pm for a cuppa and a catch up before the meeting starts at 7.30 pm.

We’re a friendly lot so please come along to meet us, hear about the Club and what our plans are for the future. There is absolutely no commitment on your part. Look upon it as “putting your toe in the water”.

Hope to see you then.
