This Christmas, we are offering individuals and families the opportunity to mark special moments and memories sponsoring a small living Christmas tree in the beautiful sanctuary of St Michael’s Church chancel.
The Lions are once again presenting a Christmas Tree Festival in St Mary’s Church from Wednesday 2 December to Sunday 6 December, with 26 beautifully decorated larger trees in the main church itself.
We are extending the Festival this year to include twelve new small trees which will be placed around the sides of St Michael’s Church chancel, which is located between the area used as the church hall and the main church of St Mary’s. The lovely chancel is a peaceful space, perfect for quiet contemplation and gentle celebration.
Sponsors are invited to dedicate a sanctuary tree in memory of a loved one, in celebration of a special event, or simply to say thank you. The dedication will be displayed alongside the tree.
The twelve sanctuary trees will be live trees in pots and are offered on a first come, first served basis. They can be reserved by contacting the Festival organiser, Rosemary Black, at wayside@btinternet.com. The cost of sponsoring one of these trees is £35, which will cover the cost of the tree and a set of battery-powered lights. Sponsors can decorate the tree if they wish (but no glass or other battery-powered decorations) or keep them simple with just their warm white lights. They can take the trees home on 7 December to plant, nurture and enjoy for years to come.
